Jennifer Garrison Designs
Abdul was at a show and called me saying, “I have a client for you. One of my customers needs a website.” Great! I have been doing more of that and looked forward to this new project. Little did I know how enjoyable it would be! Jennifer Garrison is not only talented, but a pure delight!
Jennifer lives in Florida with her husband, Jim, with a house full of birds and animals. Talking on the phone can sometimes be competitive as big birds demand their fair share of attention. In talking about her new site, goals, audience, branding and all of that, the birds just had to make it into the design part of Jennifer Garrison. So, a new logo was in order:
The bird was enhanced in Photoshop from a photo with Jim:
The fun thing is that they have a stuffed parrot toy that can be programmed to say things. Jennifer can use it at events, making her logo come alive as a talking prop!
Setting up a website involves a lot of work: deciding on the look (we used a beautiful WordPress template), taking photos, adding content, and having it reflect the work properly. I thought I was in trouble when Jennifer and I were talking on the phone, looking at the progress and I asked her to refresh the page. “How do you do that?” Uh, oh…. it’s such a basic thing to do on the web and I thought it was going to be a real challenge to get all of this done. Fortunately, Jim has a lot of knowledge and walked Jennifer through the steps as we needed them. What a quick study! I’ve never seen someone jump in so wholeheartedly and learn the basics so quickly! Applause to Jennifer!
Now Jennifer has the basics in place to have an online business. She has worked as an artist for years, selling at shows and design studios, but decided that she needed to have her work up on the web, too. Now she will be able to bring her former customers along with her as she also reaches out to new audiences who would not have seen her work previously.
Jennifer takes great care in designing and finishing her pieces. She has quite a few “looks” that use our beads from Afghan Tribal Arts. Here are a few favorites:
You never know who you will meet at a show or along the way. Although I have not met Jennifer nor Jim in person, they are now on my list of friends. Abdul is the lucky one because he gets to be the traveling nomad, opening doors to new opportunities along the way. While we were working on the site, he had an impromptu show held on the Garrisons’ driveway!

It’s a wonderful discovery to meet new friends! We thank Jennifer and Jim for their support as customers and hope that you will follow Jennifer as she builds this new audience. Share her site, Facebook page and Etsy shop with your people and buy her work! We are all a part of this creative community!
